The Broad Stage and The Edye Second Space, formerly called the New Music and Performing Arts – Madison Theater, consists of a 499-seat state-of-the-art performance theater and a 99-seat experimental black box theater with auxiliary support spaces housed in a contemporary 70-foot stepped building. The non-orthogonal cutting edge design includes a complex multi-tiered plan, making the implementation of the various construction phases extremely challenging. Unconventionally shaped metal stud framing constructs the reflector walls that facilitate the acoustic excellence of the theater. Additional program features include 2,025 square feet of rehearsal rooms, four dressing rooms, classrooms, practice facilities, orchestra lift and technologically advanced sound and performance lighting systems accompanied by two lighting bridges and full fly space supported by 37 lines of counterweight rigging. Approximately 300 parking spaces compliment the 52,000 square foot structure.
