The Hollenbeck Police Station in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles County is an innovative facility that has become a public icon of progress, community protection, and civil service. The project illustrates the environmental advantages of sustainable design and the progress of technical ingenuity. As the largest police station in Los Angeles, Hollenbeck represents a progressive approach to community-involved civil service facilities.
With an approximate size of 173,000 square feet, features include a four-story parking structure, a two-story ultra-modern police station, and a one-story maintenance building with car wash facilities. Project received Silver LEED certification upon completion. Compliance with LEED waste management diversion guidelines accrued an average estimated 81% diversion rate of inert material and 79% diversion of all other on-site materials. Bullet proof curtain wall exterior is environmentally sensitive and architecturally innovative. Low VOC adhesives, sealants, paints, coatings, and carpeting materials were used in accordance with Indoor Environmental Quality specifications. Building is highly insulated in compliance with standardized LEED requirements and utilizes an array of energy-efficient lighting fixtures.
