The Board of Public Works and the Bureau of Contract Administration recently honored their partners in the success of project labor agreements in place for three existing public projects.
At a Public Works commission meeting in downtown City Hall, FTR International Inc was recognized and was presented a certificate of Recognition for our work on the Hollenbeck Police Station. FTR International Inc. exceeded the 30 percent local hire goal set by the Department by employing workers living in the locales of the projects, as well as apprentices that are training to be journeymen in the various craft. Only two other contractors reached this goal. ''We appreciate our partnership with these prime contractors and the building trades who understand the economic benefit of employing locals and apprentices,'' said Inspector of Public Works John L. Reamer, Jr. ''Together we are developing our new generation of workers and also reinvesting dollars in the local communities.''
