In addition to this year’s “Best of 2009 -Project of the Year” for the Hollenbeck Police Station, FTR was recognized by California Construction Magazine with an Award of Merit in Green Building. The honor acknowledges the exceptional sustainability practices FTR initiated in every phase of construction on the Port of Long Beach Security Command and Control Center.
The award-winning Port project achieved Silver LEED Certification confirmed by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) in August. LEED compliant features included strict waste management strategies, the use of local/regional building materials, Federal Trade Commission (FTC) certified post-consumer recycled materials, energy efficient fixtures, and low VOC paints and sealants.
